Enabling Artists to Thrive in the Digital Marketplace
Role: UX Research, User Testing, and UI Design Tools Used: Figma, Figjam & Miro Duration: 3 Weeks

Overview
Many independent artists struggle to gain visibility and effectively market their work online. Existing e-commerce platforms are too generic and fail to cater to the unique needs of artists, leaving them unable to showcase their creativity while selling their work.
This project aimed to create an e-commerce platform that allowed artists to effortlessly manage their stores, while providing a visually immersive and seamless buying experience for customers.

Problem
Generic Platforms: Existing solutions lack customization options that reflect an artist’s unique style and brand.
Overcomplicated Store Management: Artists find it difficult to set up and manage their online stores on traditional platforms.
Disjointed Buying Experience: Art buyers often face friction during browsing and purchasing processes.
Approach
1. Research & Discovery
I conducted extensive user research, focusing on both artists and art buyers. The goal was to understand their frustrations with existing platforms and uncover what features they valued most.
Key Insights:
Artists needed more creative control over their storefronts to maintain brand integrity.
Buyers prioritized ease of navigation and an enjoyable, visually rich browsing experience.
Transparency during the checkout process was key to building trust with buyers.

2. Wireframing & Prototyping
Once the pain points were identified, I developed wireframes for both the artist and buyer interfaces. The focus was on simplicity for artists, allowing them to set up their stores quickly, and on creating an engaging, immersive experience for buyers.
I then built interactive prototypes to test the user flow, gathering feedback and iterating the designs.

Solution
1. Artist Dashboard
The dashboard was designed to make store management intuitive and customizable. Artists could personalize their storefronts with minimal effort, using drag-and-drop tools and preset templates. This helped maintain their creative identity while reducing technical friction.
2. Buyer Experience
For buyers, the design emphasized a visual-first approach. The platform showcased artworks in high resolution, with easy filtering options and a smooth checkout flow. Visual storytelling was integrated into each product page, allowing buyers to connect with the artwork on a deeper level.
3. Trust & Transparency
To build trust, we designed a clear and simple checkout process, with upfront details on shipping, taxes, and return policies. Secure payment methods and clear progress updates throughout the purchase journey helped create a sense of reliability.

Usability Testing
To validate the design, we conducted usability tests with 20 artists and 30 buyers. Artists tested the ease of setting up and managing their stores, while buyers went through the process of browsing and purchasing artworks.
Key Results:
90% of artists completed store setup in less than 10 minutes.
85% found the drag-and-drop tools intuitive and easy to use.
95% of buyers rated their browsing experience as "smooth" or "very smooth."
88% of buyers completed their purchases without any issues.
92% of buyers reported a high level of trust and satisfaction with the platform’s transparency.
